SYNTHALEN
Carbomer Homopolymer USP/NF, EP, JPE

Synthalen are synthetic high molecular weight polymers of acrylic acid that are crosslinked with either allyl sucrose or allyl ethers of pentaerythritol.  They contain between 52 percent and 68 percent of carboxylic acid (COOH groups) calculated on dry basis.  These polymers swell in water upto 1000 times their original volumes to form a clear gel when exposed to a pH environment above 4.0 – 6.0.

Obtained through a proprietary manufacturing technique, Synthalen grades are practically benzene  free.
